Cornflower water, which is obtained from this small plant with the characteristic blue flower, is of great use in ophthalmology. The distilled water of the cornflower, which cannot be obtained by conventional household methods, is used as an astringent eye wash for reddened eyes; for daily home use, the infusion can be used for external decongestant treatment of the eyelids and eye area.
