Zinc oxide is an inorganic chemical compound, zinc oxide, with the formula ZnO. At room temperature it appears as a white, odorless solid. In medicine, it is used externally in creams to treat redness, e.g. diaper rash, or to prevent bedsores. Such creams are approved as medicines and can be prepared in a pharmacy.
Zinc oxide occurs naturally in the form of the mineral zincite.
